Congratulations to C/MSgt Luke Moitoza for being awarded the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) Student Fight Training Scholarship of $10,000. Luke is one of 100 students Nationally who was awarded this 2021 Scholarship. Scholarship recipients may use the funds for direct flight training expenses to pursue a primary pilot certificate, such as a private, sport, or recreational pilot certificate. They must also complete a flight training milestone, achieving either solo or earning a primary pilot certificate, within one year of receiving a scholarship.  Luke plans to solo on his 16th birthday in the Fall.

Luke was also recently awarded Air Force Sergeants Association, Cadet NCO of the Year Award.

Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont is the oldest private military college in the United States. Our own 1C/1st Lt Matthew Chua will be heading there to begin undergraduate studies during the 2021 Fall Semester. C/Lt Chua received a three-year Army ROTC scholarship to Norwich University, which is a tremendous accomplishment distinguishing him as a scholar, athlete, and leader. He will be attending as a member of the University’s Corps of Cadets and Army ROTC unit. C/Lt Chua will pursue a major in Criminal Justice with hopes to become an officer in the Army, flying either Blackhawk or Chinook helicopters.

C/Lt Chua shared, "I have taken part in almost every volunteer activity that my squadron has participated in. I am most proud of the Civil Air Patrol’s volunteer service core value. Our missions during the COVID-19 pandemic have been the most significant and meaningful. Helping people, especially in their time of need, has given me a greater sense of purpose. Being part of the Civil Air Patrol volunteer team is an honor and a humbling experience." Congratulations to C/Lt Chua on this accomplishment!
