Cadet Commander Welcome

Welcome to Civil Air Patrol!

Welcome to the Upper Montgomery Composite Squadron! My name is C/2nd Lt Luke Moitoza and I have the privilege of being the squadron’s cadet commander. As the cadet commander, I lead the cadet program by equipping cadets with the necessary items to ensure they are able to achieve their goals. I look forward to working with you to join the magnificent cadets of our squadron!

I joined this squadron in 2017 and have served as a staff member in various positions. Most recently as the Cadet Deputy Commander. I have also participated in the Color Guard, Encampment, Honor Guard, and Covid-19 missions. Orientation flights in the Civil Air Patrol have inspired me to pursue both my glider and pilot's certificate. I am particularly interested in aerospace classes, challenging PT meetings, along with character and leadership development. The opportunities to grow and serve are endless!

The Civil Air Patrol Cadet program has three missions: aerospace education, emergency services, and cadet programs. Each mission offers many opportunities for cadets to explore and find new interests. If you are fascinated by the sky, our aerospace education offers orientation flights, rocketry classes, and solo school giving you diverse experiences to increase  your knowledge. Through emergency services, you can learn how to aid in disaster relief, find missing people, and learn how to survive in difficult weather conditions.

Alongside aerospace education and emergency services, cadet programs provide some of the greatest opportunities for cadets in Civil Air Patrol. Our cadet programs focus on building your character and leadership skills, giving cadets the ability to apply said skills, and gain confidence through their many activities. Some of these activities are encampments, national cadet special activities, speak off, etc.

The best way to succeed and advance in your education and training is to apply yourself. By doing so, you gain a wealth of knowledge and experience, preparing you for the real world. You will find yourself in situations where you have to follow and work with people you have never met before. Being in these situations will teach you the value of integrity, volunteer service, excellence, and respect. As you advance in your training to become a leader, you will better yourself as a person by learning how to develop confidence, increase communication skills, and become more focused and organized. Through the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program, you will meet amazing people who will become your family.

Ever since I joined this squadron, I have been given the opportunity and resources to grow as a leader but more importantly so, as a person. The Civil Air Patrol programs help you to grow into a leader who serves others.

Thank you for your interest in our squadron. Once you join, our cadets will help you with any questions you may have. Until then, feel free to contact us! We look forward to welcoming you.

Thank you,

C/2nd Lt Luke Moitoza
